O. "Ollie" D. Cortner
Ollie Cornter, Early Jireh Resident, Dies
O. D. (Ollie) Cortner, 70, a homesteader in the Jireh community, died March 28 in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Mr. Cortner came to Wyoming with his parents in 1908. They settled in the Jireh community where his father operated a store and post office. When he became old enough, Mr. Cortner filed on a homestead two miles west of Jireh and he carried mail from the Jireh post office northwest in the Chimney Rock community for several years. He went to Pocatello, Ida. and later to Ogden, Utah where he worked as a railroad postal clerk between Ogden and Cheyenne for 32 years.
Funeral services were held in St. Petersburg Saturday morning.
Survivors include his wife, Luella Kelly Cortner; a son, Col. Frederick D., USDMC, Chapel Hill, N. C.; a brother, Lester of Muncie, Ind.; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Edwards and Mrs. Bertha Everhart, both of Farmland, Ind.; and one grandson.
