Anna Catherine Arnold
Mrs. Anna Catherine Arnold was born at Gefle, Sweden, May 26,1867 and came to this country with her parents when 14 years old, locating at Bishop's Hill, Ill.
She came to Lusk in the fall of 1886 and had resided here ever since, with the exception of the last two years which she spent in California.
She was married in Lusk, January 10. 1868 to Edward M. Arnold. To this marriage three children were born; Anna, who died in infancy; Ethel and Lillian.
Mrs. Arnold spent most of her life in our midst where she was active in many ways and one of those women who endears herself to all in the community where she lives.
For several years she had suffered from a complication of diseases and recently went to Alliance where she underwent an operation from which she never recovered, passing from this life on July 26, 1923, at the age of 56 years and two months.
Her husband and daughters and two step-children were at her bedside when the end came.
The remains were brought back to Lusk Friday and services held from the Catholic church Saturday forenoon. The esteem with which she was held was manifested by the amount of beautiful floral offerings.
She leaves to mourn her loss beside her husband and daughters, Ethel and Lillian, her stepchildren, Tom Arnold of Scenic, S.D., and Mrs. Ella Updike of Canota, S.D. a sister Mrs. Nellie Berggren of Lusk, also a number of nieces and nephews.
The pall bearers were all old-time friends who had known Mrs. Arnold from the time she came to Lusk. They were: P.E. Barber, George Saffell, Henry Reed, John Roy, D.E. Goddard and A.L. Miller.
She was laid to rest in the Lusk cemetery where her little daughter, mother and sister and many friends have preceded her. Funeral arrangements were in charge of Austin, Elquist, Slack company, undertakers.
