Mrs. Caroline Amelia Knittle Succumbs at Age of 81 Years
Remains being brought to Lusk for burial; Funeral arrangements not yet completed
A message which brought the sad news of the death of Mrs. Caroline Amelia Knittle was received by her son, Frank, Knittle and family of this city last Sunday. Mrs. Knittle passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Emma Gains, near San Diego, Calif., at 12:30 a.m. Sunday, August 16. Infirmity was the cause of her death, her age at the time of demise being 81 years, 1 month, and 25 days.
The remains are being shipped to Lusk for burial. Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed.
Mrs. Knittle was well known to a great many of the older residents of Lusk, she having lived here almost continuously from 1888 until 1917. In the early past of that year she moved to Casper, taking up residence with her daughter, Mrs. Martha Hall, until in the fall of the same year, she she moved to
California. She had made her home there until the time of her death.
Caroline Amelia Hoffman was born at Hoenwaldy, Germany, June 21, 1844, and died at San Diego, California, August 16, 1925.
The year of her marriage to Robert A. Knittle is unknown at this time, but it was a number of years before they moved to the United States in 1844, in March of which year the family settled at Madison, Nebr.
Her husband, Robert A. Knittle, passed away July 27, 1909. In the spring of 1917, Mrs. Knittle moved from Lusk to Casper, and lived with her daughter until in the fall when she went to California.
Deceased is survived by two sons, Frank O. Knittle of Lusk; Gus R. Knittle; three daughters, Mrs. Emma Gains of San Diego, Cal.; Mrs. Edith Milburn of San Diego, Cal.; and Mrs. Martha Hall of Casper, Wyo.; and one step-daughter, Mrs. Geo. Truelsen of Cortez, Colo.
