Mrs. Paulina Peet, 83, Passes Away Here After a Long Illness: Interment in Neb.
Mrs. Paulina Peet, age 83 years, mother of George Earl Peet of this city, passed away at her residence here, July 5th, 1935 after attaining the age of 83 years, 7 months and 27 days. The cause of her death was infirmities of old age preceded by many months of failing health.
Private services were held at the Peet Mortuary, Saturday afternoon, July 6th. Rev George Jenkins officiating. Mrs. Abdon DeCastro, Mrs. H.J. Templeton and Mrs. R.B Taylor rendered two beautiful hymns, "In the City Four Square" and "Abide With Me." Mrs. J.P. Watson accompanied on the piano. After the services the remains were taken to Ainsworth, Neb., where they were interred by the side of her husband, the late M.D. Peet.
Mrs. Peet is survived by four sons, one daughter, a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Pauline Catherine Gillilan was born at Viola, Iowa, on November 8,1852. She spent her early childhood in that vicinity. She was united in marriage to Marlin Dennis Peet on March 25, 1869. To this union were born five sons and one daughter--James Harry of Inglewood, Calif.; Samuel Marlin of Orange Cove, Calif.; Bert S. and Wilbur Dale of Council Bluffs, Iowa; George Earl Peet of Lusk, Wyo.; and Mrs. Madge Purdy of Ainsworth, Neb.
She is preceded in death by her husband on October 6, 1926, and by one son, Bert S., on Sept. 23, 1915.
She has made her home in Lusk since 1930, at which time she moved from Springview, Neb., to Wyoming.
At the services held at the Jessen Mortuary chapel at Ainsworth, many friends from the vicinity of her long residence paid their last respects.
In the early years of her life she migrated to the undevloped country around Vermilion, South Dakota, but later returned to Eastern Iowa, where her life was spent until in 1902, when the family moved to Keya Paha County, Nebraska, locating seven miles northeast of Springview. From that time until 1930 she lived almost continuously in that part of the State. In 1930 she took up her residence in Lusk, Wyo., at which place she passed from this life on July 5, 1935, at the age of 83 years, 7 months and 27 days after many months of failing health due to the infirmities of old age.
From childhood she has been a confirmed Christian and adhered to the highest of ideals throughout her life, and as the shadows of life's eventide approached she received them with the welcome of one well prepared for that change from the period of physical activity into one of eternal rest.
