Mrs. Guy P. Squires, Member of Pioneer Lusk Family, Passes Away in Douglas
Prominent Young Matron of Converse County Succumbs Following Short Illness
Mrs. Guy P. Squires, 36, prominent Douglas woman, and a member of a pioneer Lusk family, passed away Monday morning, January 27, 1936, following an illness of several weeks.
Myrtle Irene Louger was born in Lusk, June 11, 1889, the daughter of William F. and Cora Louger. She grew to young ladyhood in Lusk and was graduated from the Lusk High school.
On September 21, 1919, she was married to Guy P. Squires of Douglas and has made her home there since that time.
Mrs. Squires was highly esteemed by her large circle of friends and took and active part in the social affairs of Douglas. She was a member of the Woodvine Chapter No. 18, Order of the Eastern Star, and a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
Deceased is survived by her husband; two sons, Wayne, 14, and Max, 11; one daughter, Jeane, 8; three sisters, Mrs. J.H. Arnold of Riverton, Mrs. Willa Hohn of Midwest, and Mrs. Callie Magoon of Oakland, Cal., one brother, E.O. Louger of Port Orchard, Wash.; and her mother, Mrs. Cora Louger of Douglas.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Masonic Temple and were in charge of the Eastern Star, with Rev. Homer C. Crisman of the Methodist Episcopal Church assisting.
Burial was made in the Douglas Park Cemetery.
