He spent the earlier part of his life in the eastern part of the United States, coming to Omaha, Nebraska and other western cities in 1915. In 1916 he was united in marriage to Miss Emma Kersten at Golden, Colorado. They established their home at Omaha at that time but soon after located at Antioch, Nebraska where their only child, Jack Gottlieb, Jr., was born.
In 1918 the family moved to Niobrara county, Wyoming and homesteaded northwest of Lusk, and south of the present Lance Creek oil field. This locality was their permanent home for 20 years, except for a short interval when they lived at Casper and Greybull, Wyoming.
Mr. Gottlieb united with the Baptist Church at Greybull and has been a consistent member since that time. Both he and his wife were members of the Lusk Baptist church for more than ten years. Mr. Gottlieb, Sr., had many friends and neighbors in Niobrara county. He always endeavored to uphold Christian standards in his everyday life. A strong individualist, he asked no favors nor expected none form his friends. A kind
husband and father, he lived as he believed and his passing is a sincere loss to his many friends and neighbors.
Music at the services here Monday was furnished by Mrs. Abdon DeCastro and J.M. Hungate, who rendered a duet, "Rock of Ages," and a solo by Mr. Hungate, "In The Garden." A closing number, a favorite of Mr. Gottlieb's was "The Old Rugged Cross."
