Jess W. Yeager Rites April 22
Services were held Thursday afternoon, April 22, at 2:00 o'clock at the Peet Chapel in Lusk for Jess. W. Yeager, 55, former resident of the Cheyenne River community. The last rites were conducted by Rev. Lawrence P. Juell, pastor of the Congregational Church.
A choir consisting of Mr. H.J. Templeton, Mrs. Edna DeCastro, Rex Yocum and Donley Unruh, sang "In the Garden" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" accompanied by Mrs. J.P. Watson on the chapel organ.
Burial was made in the Lusk Cemetery and the friends conducting the remains to its final resting place were Chris Christensen, William O. Hanson, T.J. Wilson, C.R. Cooksey, Tom Rennard and Lloyd Jones.
Jess W. Yeager was the only son of William Yeager and May Burkholder. He was born March 24, 1893, and passed away Tuesday, April 20, 1948, at Hot Springs, So. Dak.
December 14, 1915, he was married to Arla Lightwine, and in 1917 they moved to the Cheyenne River community, where they homesteaded.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his widow, Mrs. Arla Yeager; two children, Harold W. Yeager and Mrs. Ruth Hawthorne; Three grandchildren, Janet Ruth and Douglas Oliver Yeager and Juanita Marie Hawthorne; three sisters, Mrs. Edna Forbes, Omaha, Neb.; Mrs. Carrie Carrier, Falcon, Mo.; Mrs. Edna Peters, Maryville, Mo., and numerous other relatives.
Out-of-State friends and relatives here for the services were Mrs. Edith Forbes, Omaha; Verne Burkholder, Logan, Iowa; Jess Burkholder, Woodbine, Iowa; and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Rumney, Greeley, Colo.
