Richard Updike
Lusk native Richard Updike died at a Casper hospital Monday morning.
Mr. Updike was raised here and worked for some time at Vollmer's machine shop.
He later moved to the Osage area where he owned and operated Osage Supply Co. and Pines Motel for many years.
After his retirement, Mr. Updike moved to Ft. Laramie.
Survivors include his wife, Viola, also of Ft. Laramie; three daughters, Elverta Jones of Osage, Arlene Jenkins of Upton, and Evelyn Garhart of Ft. Laramie; three brothers, Henry of Newcastle, Lester of Osage, and Claude of California; and a sister, Dorothy of California.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eva Walter Updike, last October.
The Rev. Mary Behmer of the Ft. Laramie Community Church will officiate at a service at Peet Mortuary Thursday, July 12, at 2 p.m.
Memorial contributions to the Ft. Laramie Community Church are preferred.
