W. F. Brunckhorst Dies Here Mon.

William F. Brunckhorst, 80, resident of Niobrara County for 54 years died Monday at the Niobrara Memorial Hospital following a lingering illness.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Peet Chapel with the Rev. Leroy Kellerman of St. Paul's Lutheran Church officiating. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Brunckhorst observed their golden wedding anniversary last June 10 in Lusk. They were married in 1914 at the Lutheran Church in Node by the Rev. Martin K. Leimer.

Mr. Brunckhorst came to Wyoming from Pierce County, Nebraska in 1909 and took a homestead east of Lusk. In 1910 he shipped his farming equipment and horses to Wyoming in an immigrant car. He made final proof on his homestead three years later. During that time he worked part time on the Stewart Sides and Tom Bell ranches.

Mr. and Mrs. Brunckhorst lived on his homestead until 1942 when the land was sold. Mr. Brunckhorst worked at Lance Creek during World War II and later followed the carpenter trade until he became crippled with arthritis.

He is survived by his wife and three daughters, Mrs. Harold (Catherine) Wilson of Harrison; Mrs. Harry (Mary) Sides, and Mrs. William (Wyoma) Hales who live on ranches in Niobrara County. A daughter and son died previously.

Last rites for William Frederick Brunckhorst were held at the Peet Chapel in Lusk on January 13 with the Rev. Leroy Kellerman, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, officiating, Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Pall bearers were Robert Black, Mike Chard, John Hammond, Frank Hanson, Bob Fancher and Howard Haworth. Honorary pallbearers were Roy ZumBrunnen, Earl Hales, Bud Butler, Ray Christian, Oscar Bostrum, Amil Williams, Art Thompson, Anthon Hanson, Otto Klemke, Harlan Lohr. Mrs. J.P. Watson was organist, and a quartet of Mrs. A.F. DeCastro, Mrs. Emerson Bonner, Dan Christian, and Al Davenport sang "In The Garden" and "Beyond the Sunset."

Mr. Brunckhorst, aged 80, died at the Niobrara Memorial Hospital January 11 after a lingering illness, He was born at Summit, Ill., January 4, 1885, the third son of Henry and Catherine Bokelmann Brunckhorst.

When he was nine years old the family moved from Summit to Pierce County, Nebr., where the father died in 1900. In 1909 he came to
Wyoming and located on a homestead east of Lusk. the following year he shipped his horses, farm machinery and shop tools to Wyoming in an immigrant car

On June 10, 1914, he married Fay Porter at Node , Wyo., and four daughters and one son were born to them. In April of 1942 he sold his ranch and moved to Lusk and worked at the carpenter trade until ill health forced him to retire.

Surviving besides his widow are three daughters: Mrs. Harold (Catherine) Wilson, Harrison; Mrs. Harry (Mary) Sides and Mrs. William (Wyoma) Hales of Lusk; two brothers, Ernest, of Inman, Nebr. and Robert of Osmond, Nebr. There are 12 grandchildren and one great grandson.

One son, a daughter, four brothers and one sister died previously.

Mr. Brunckhorst was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church at Randolph, Nebr. on March 10, 1899. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Lusk.

Out-of-town people here for the funeral were Ernest Brunckhorst of Inman, Nebr., Robert and Henry Brunckhorst Jr. of Osmond, Nebr., Mr. and Mrs. Ford Porter and Freeman Porter of Casper, and George Fox and Tracy Stine of Green River, Wyo.
