Ellis Morgan Dies In Lusk, Wyoming, Saturday

Dell Rapids Tribune - Word reached here Saturday of the death of Ellis Morgan, which occurred early that morning in a Lusk, Wyoming hospital, following an operation.

Mr. Morgan made his home her with his brother, George Morgan, for many years, but recently had lived with his sister, Mrs. Charles Rahn at Flandreau, until two months ago when he went to Lusk to visit a brother, H.W. Morgan.

Funeral services and interment took place in Lusk. Surviving is the sister and two brothers, besides numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral rites for Ellis Alva Morgan, farmer near Lusk who died early Saturday morning were held at 2 p.m. Monday under Rev. P.H. Evans at the Baptist Church.

Morgan, who lived here since April, had been receiving medical treatment for several weeks prior to his death.

At his funeral, a quartet composed of J.M. Hungate, Ford B. Kuns, Mrs. Charles Hansen, and Mrs. C.E. Marvin, sang "Jesus Lover of My Soul," and "Nearer My God To Thee," accompanied by Mrs. J.P. Watson. Pallbearers were Floyd and Roy McLain, R.W. Reed, Charles Hunter, Jalmer Thon, and Gene Willson. Burial was at the Lusk Cemetery.

Ellis Alva Morgan was born in Waterloo, Iowa, April 21, 1872. He attended school in Smithland, Iowa, and made that his home until 1900. Then he moved to Moody County, So. Dak., where he lived until April, when he came to Wyoming to work and visit. His main occupation was farming, but he did other manual labor.

Ellis was a man of high ideals and noble aspirations. He took interest in all kinds of life from the smallest insect to the largest animal. He was a great lover of mankind and recognized good points in every one. He was a reader of good literature and being well informed, easily formed many acquaintances and won loyal friends. He was a great optimist, and saw beauty everywhere and good in everything. The children loved him and will gratefully remember his good qualities.

He died at 1:30 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 1939. He leaves to mourn his loss one sister, Mrs. Charles Rahn of Flandreau, S.D., two brothers, George Morgan, Del Rapids, S.D. and Hardy Wilson (Wils) Morgan, Lusk, Wyo., twelve nephews, six nieces, and many friends.
