Services for Helena A. Brooks, aged 87, of Torrington, who died Sunday, August 14, 1983, at the Community Hospital in Torrington, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 19, 1983 at the Colyer Funeral Home in Torrington. Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday at the Lusk Cemetery.
She was born December 23, 1895 at Newman Grove, Nebr., the daughter of Simon and Sarah (Dagsland) Simonson. She grew up and attended schools at Newman Grove and later at Mullen, Nebr. She attended college at Fremont, Nebr. and then graduated from Chadron State College.
She taught school at Mullen for several years and then married Martin Muhlbach on June 26, 1918 at Wheatland. They ranched near Mullen.
She married Frank Brooks on January 22, 1930 and they ranched near Keeline, Manville and Hartville. Mr. Brooks died in 1958 and she moved to Torrington in 1960.
Survivors include two sons, Fred Muhlbach of Cheyenne and Allen Muhlbach of Casper; a half-brother, Sidney Simonson of California; two half-sisters; Thelma Miles and Ruth Simonson, both of California; six grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and 21 step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, two-step-children, four brothers, one half brother, two sisters and three half-sisters.
A memorial has been established to The Wyoming Chapter of The National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
The Colyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
