Lee S. Walts Dies in Manville
Lee S. Walts, 77, of Hat Creek, died Thursday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Arthur Ferris in Manville, from a stroke. Funeral services were held Monday at 2:00 p.m. from Peet Chapel with Rev. Jacob Nein officiating. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.
Mrs. Emerson Bonner and Mrs. Otha B. Holcomb sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus." Mrs. J.P. Watson was organist.
Pallbearers were Leonard Seeman, C.E. Marvin, George Story, John Wasserrburger, Sr., Woodson Graham and Lloyd Rhay.
Lee Sylvanus Walts was born in Nodoway County, Mo., December 22, 1881, the son of James and Maggie Walts. While a young man he moved to western Nebraska where he engaged in construction work for a number of years.
He and Netie Musfelt were married in Rushville, Nebr. in 1901. They came to Niobrara County in 1932 and homesteaded north of Hat Creek.
He is survived by his son, Clinton of Hat Creek and a daughter, Mrs. Art Ferris of Manville, four brothers, one sister, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Mrs. Walts died in 1943.
