Edna Louise Moore Freeland

Edna Louise Burke Moore Freeland passed away peacefully July 10, 2013, at Niobrara Health and Life Center, where she had resided since 2006.

Edna was born December 4, 1914 to John O. and Caroline Geike Burke. She was one of eight children.

She went to Indian Creek School and High School at Harrison, Nebr. Later she moved to Lance Creek to work at the Guy Mosier ranch. She met Bertram Lee Moore and they were married January 7, 1933. To this union three children were born: Leo Lloyd, Helen, and Homer.

After the death of Lee Moore in 1979 she worked at the Niobrara Senior Center, retiring in 1981. Edna met Edward Freeland when he was at First Baptist Church. They married June 19, 1983. They lived in Rye, Colo. for fifteen years before returning to Lusk to reside.

Edna enjoyed her family, holiday get-togethers, fishing, hunting, and dancing. She was active in the church at Rye and in Lusk until ill health forced her to go to the nursing home.

She was preceded in death by both husbands, parents, one son, four brothers, and three sisters.

Survivors include daughter, Helen Fulk of Lusk; son Homer (Karol) Moore of Sabin, Ohio; grandson Jimmy (Kim) Moore and Jon, Bailee and Rylee Jo of Powell, Wyo.; granddaughter Carmen (Lloyd) Odell and Gratton and Henry of Wilmor, Kan.; a loving sister-in-law, Geneva Burke of Lusk; and many nieces and nephews, cousins, and life-long friends.

Memorials may be made to Helen Fulk, Niobrara Health and Life Center, or donor's choice.

Pier Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Services were held at First Baptist Church in Lusk July 13, 2013, with Pastor Tom Strock officiating.
