Ruby Ellen Christian

Ruby Ellen McCullough Christian, 85, of Lusk, died Thursday May 16th, with dignity and grace at her home with family by her side after a brief battle with cancer.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 21st, her 86th birthday, at the Congregational Church in Lusk with Pastor Mark Lohr officiating. Inurnment will be at the Lusk Cemetery.

Ruby was born May 21, 1927 in Lusk to Thomas and Hazel (Sides) McCullough. She grew up and attended school in Manville, graduating from Manville High School with the class of 1945. She then attained her cosmetology license from Torrington, Wyo.

On October 31, 1947 she married Charles L. Christian at the Congregational Church in Lusk, Wyo. To this union were born three daughters: Jani Lerback of Rapid City, So. Dak.; Thana Christian of Oakland, Cal.; and Cindy Christian of Lusk, Wyo.

Ruby led by example, and instilled in her family and many others a strong belief that doing for others was the best way to live. Ruby was known for her love of putting on a party. Whether it was family reunions, bridge parties, golf tournaments, birthday parties, or holiday celebrations, she was always involved, and usually leading the celebration. Anytime she was together with her brother and sisters, you could find them at a table playing gin rummy and drinking champagne into the wee hours of the morning. She had a great love of flowers and always looked forward to spring when she could begin tending to her flower beds. Her greatest enjoyment later in life was all her grandkids and great-grandkids. The opportunity to spend time with them always brightened her day, and she always looked forward to welcoming the new ones into the world. Ruby was always very fond of collecting angels. She lived her life on earth as one of the sweetest most caring people you could ever meet. God certainly gained one heck of an angel on May 16th.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 52 years.

She is survived by her daughters; her siblings: Mable Engen of Pocatello, Ida.; Joe McCullough (Fran) of Lusk; and Naomi Ogle (Morris), of Palm Springs, Cali.; her grandchildren: Christian Lerback; Jennifer Feliz (Mark); Andrew Lerback (Edie); Travis St. John; Amy Pontarolo (Jim); Eric St. John (Jenny); and Patricia Christian; her great-grandchildren: Kylee Marie, Christian Colten, and Collin Charles Lerback; Samantha, Mary Ellen, and Clara Feliz; Dylan Miller; Karlei and Corben Pontarolo; Taylor St. John; and William St. John; and many nieces and nephews.

Pier Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
