Earl Bristol Dies at Hot Springs, S. D.

Services for Earl Bristol, who died March 21 of cancer at Hot Springs, were held last Wednesday at the United Churches with the Rev. Glenn Hammerlee officiating.

Burial was in Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, with graveside rites by the Masonic Lodge and an honor guard from Ellsworth Air Force Base. Mrs. Bristol was the former Verona Jordan, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Dick Jordan.

Mr. Bristol was born October 14, 1898, at Rochester, N.Y., son of Herbert and Mary Bristol. He attended the Rochester schools and was in the Army during World War I.

In 1919 he came to the Hot Springs area. He married Cecile Thomas in 1920 and they lived in Oral until 1936 when he moved to Hot Springs.

He married Verona Hall June 7, 1948. Bristol worked at the Fall River County courthouse 10 years, the Veterans Administration Center 12 years and was manager of the V.A. Hot Springs Federal Credit Union from August 1953 until ill health caused his retirement in October 1967.

He served as a director of the Black Hills Chapter and the State Credit Union League, was a member of the United Churches and the church choir, Mason, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.

Survivors include his widow Verona, Hot Springs; a son, Leland, Omaha; two daughters, Mrs. Rex (Mary) Palmer, Baldwin Park, Calif., and Mrs. Kenneth (Lois) Johnson, Anaheim, Calif.; a brother, Arthur, Rochester, N.Y.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Bob Rose, Culver City, Calif., and Mrs. Vonnie Strickland, Chula Vita, Calif.; two stepsons, Rickard Hall, Los Angeles, and Forest Hall, Garden Grove, Calif.; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren.

Among those attending the services were: Mrs. Allen Jordan and Mrs. Merril Quintard of Harrison; Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Iversen, Security, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. Burdette Heckert, Roxann, Rebecca, and Rick of Pavillion, Wyo.; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Jordan and Jackie of Whitney; Helen Jordan and Leslie Jordan of Denver; Mrs. Clova Wasserburger and Mrs. Margo Anderson of Edgemont.
