Malissa Jane Varney

Mrs. H. B. Varney of Chelan died suddenly Friday in Wenatchee from a heart ailment. She had been in poor health for some time.

Malissa Jane Kingman was born July 1, 1889 at Lusk, Wyoming. She came to Washington in 1894 with her family settling at Lakeside. On November 28, 1906, she and Horace B. Varney were married. To this union were born five children, four of whom survive.

Surviving are her husband, H. B. Varney of Chelan, her father H. R. Kingman of Chelan; two sons; Lester L. Varney of Chelan, and Herbert H. Varney of Seattle, two daughters, June Varney and Mrs. Doris Mae Libby both of Chelan, two brothers, L. H. Kingman of Lakeside, and H. I. Kingman of Portland; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted from the Masonic Temple in Chelan Sunday at 2 pm with the Silver Star Chapter Order of Eastern Star officiating. Interment will follow in Riverview cemetery at Chelan. Jones and Jones have charge of funeral arrangements.
