Ken Sides

Ken Sides, 54, of Lusk, Wyo. passed away on Friday, June 1, 2012 at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. A long time resident of Lusk, and current resident of Cheyenne, Ken had been in ill health for several years.

Son of Ralph and Marlene Sides, he was born June 30, 1957 in Lusk, where he attended school his entire childhood. He graduated high school in 1975. He worked on his uncle's ranch in Walden, Colo. before he married his wife Dawn Reed on March 7, 1980. The couple settled back in Lusk, where they raised their two girls, Bailie and Brandi on their family ranch east of town.

Ken was a 4-H Horse Leader for 20 years and leader for the Up & Coming 4-H club. His interests included ranching, fishing, judging horse shows, carpentry and making his family and friends laugh. He devoted much of his time to his daughters and playing with his two grandchildren. He will be deeply missed in months and years to come.

Survivors include his wife Dawn Sides; parents Ralph and Marlene Sides of Lusk; daughter Bailie Dockter and husband Matthew of Green River; daughter Brandi Wengert and husband Michael of Cody; one sister Vicki West and husband Brett of Lusk; one brother Monte Sides and wife Terri of Winchester, Tennessee, two grandchildren Mikayla, Samuel Dockter and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on June 7, 2012 at the Niobrara County Fair Grounds, with a coffee to follow. Memorial donations will be accepted for the Niobrara County 4-H programs at P.O. Box 210, Lusk, WY 82225.

Pallbearers: Andy Barnette, Mark Sturman, Justin Story, Gary Johnson, Chuck Sommers, and Dick Baker.

Honorary Pallbearers: Monte Sides, Rod Nelson, Tye Reed, Todd Weber, Brett West, and Jim Hammond.
