Annie Johnston Keir Johnson
Services Held For Mrs. Harleigh Johnson Tuesday
Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Johnson were conducted from the Peet Mortuary at 2:30 P.M. Tuesday, April 6. She lacked but 6 days of reaching her 48th birthday.
Songs at the service were "Going Down the Valley", and "This World Is Not My Home." These were sung by Mrs. H. J. Templeton, Mrs. Robert Taylor, Gerald Bardo and Donald Lee Taylor.
Pallbearers were Rulo Roberts, Henry McGinnis, Bill and George Mill, Beecher Strube and Edmund Cook.
The scripture was read from II Corinthians 4:5-18; I John 1:1-5 with the Rev. M. H. Marshall of the Congregational Church officiating.
A short graveyard service was conducted.
Out-of-town relatives attending the funeral were : Mrs. Margaret Johnson, Mrs. Elizabeth Owens, and Mrs. Vivian Sweetser, sisters of the deceased from Weir, Kan. and Blackwell, Okla; Mrs. Janie A. Scott of Cody, Wyo.; Miss Avaley L. Johnson of Los Angeles, Calif.; and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Anderson of near Ainsworth, Nebr.
Annie Johnston Keir Hardie, daughter of Shanks and Annie Keir Hardie, was born April 8, 1895 in Glenmavis, Scotland and departed this life in Lusk, on April 2.
She came to America with her mother when five years old. Her father had arrived earlier. The family settled in Weir, Kan.
Her education was received in the Weir and Pittsburg, Kan. schools. Having grown to young womanhood in these communities she was married to Edwin D. Scott on July 29, 1914 in Pittsburg. To this union one son, Robert, was born. The family came to the Hat Creek, Wyo. community in early Mary, 1917, where she spent the remaining years of her life.
On Sept. 13, 1928, she was united in marriage to Harleigh Johnson.
She was preceded in death by both her parents and a brother and sister who died in infancy.
She leaves her husband, Harleigh Johnson, her son Robert Scott and family; five sisters, Mrs. Margaret Johnson, Ms. Elizabeth Owens; Mrs. Irene Gowans, all of Weir, Kan.; and Mrs. Jessie Snow and Mrs. Vivian Sweetser of Blackwell, Okla.; and one brother, Robert Hardie of Weir; and nephews, nieces and other relatives.
She became a member of the Presbyterian Church when but a small child, being a member of the Weir church. Later she attended the Episcopal church.
Her death followed a serious operation, and though in poor health for the past two years she maintained her bright disposition.
