Hobart M. Cockreham, 82 of Whitewood, SD and long time resident of Lusk, Wyo. died on March 12, 2012 at his home.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 16, 2012 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish with Pastor Randy Cockreham officiating. An additional service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Pier Funeral Chapel in Lusk, Wyo. with burial to follow at the Lusk Cemetery.
Hobart was born and raised on the Cockreham Family farm in Johnson, Kan., and at age 19 moved to a ranch 47 miles north of Lusk, Wyo. Hobart spent his life doing what he loved-ranching-where he ranched in Niobrara County in Wyo., for over 50 years. Hobart was never more joyous than when he was surrounded by his horse, cattle, dogs and family. Hobart was also very active in the Republican Party where he was able to meet with several presidents and government officials regarding agriculture concerns. Hobart was active in his community and church, serving for several years on the local school board and as an elder in his church.
After moving to Whitewood, Hobart was still very active with his community overseeing the improvements in his neighborhood. Hobart was very passionate about his horses and passed this passion on to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Hobart is greatly loved by his family and his wisdom, love and support will be greatly missed.
Hobart is survived by his wife Renee' of Whitewood; children, Steve (Janis) Cockreham of Indianapolis, In.; Randy (Terri) Cockreham of Castle Rock, Colo. and Debbie Cockreham of Ft. Collins, Colo.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
