Earl Gilchrist Services Are Held
Funeral services for Earl K. Gilchrist were conducted from the Peet Chapel Thursday afternoon, August 20, at four o'clock.
Rev. M. H. Marshall of the Congregational Church officiated. Interment was made in the Lusk Cemetery, with Earl Quigley, F. W. Eikenberry, Stanley Johnson, O.P. Harnagel, Ralph McFarlane and J. P. Costlow as casket bearers.
Earl Koontz Gilchrist passed away on Saturday, August 14, at the age of 62 years. He was born in Yankton, S.D. in 1881, and his boyhood was spent in that city and Sioux City, Iowa.
When a young man he moved with his parents to Gann Valley, S.D., and later filed on a claim near Kadoka, S. Dak.
He was united in marriage to Grace K. (Trimble) in 1908 and they made their home in Kadoka until coming to Lusk in 1938.
Besides his widow he is survived by a son, Clark, now serving in the U. S. Army Engineers and is located at Camp Sutton, North Carolina. Four sisters also survive, Miss Lutie Gilchrist of Hot Springs, S. D.; Mrs. Jack Thomas of Aurora, Oregon; Mrs. Ted Craven and Mrs. Clyde Linn of Forrest Grove, Oregon, and three brothers, Fred W. of Kadoka, S. D.; Wallace D. of Salem Oregon, and Charles B. of Cornelius, Oregon.

Earl Gilchrist Dies Suddenly Saturday
Earl Koontz Gilchrist, 62 died suddenly at his home in Lusk Saturday evening at eleven fifteen after being ill less than an hour. Death was attributed to a heart ailment.
Mr. Gilchrist had been up town earlier in the evening and had gone home and retired for the night, seeming as well as usual when he was suddenly taken sick, Mrs. Gilchrist summoned a doctor but her husband passed away shortly after his arrival.
Mr. Gilchrist was born at Yankton, S. Dakota, April 25th, 1881.
The Gilchrists have one son, Clark, who is in the armed services and is now stationed at Camp Sutton, N. Carolina. He arrived in Lusk on Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Gilchrist and son moved to Lusk five years ago from Yankton, S. Dakota and since that time Mr. Gilchrist has been engaged in a salvage business. They are a highly respected family of the commuunity and have made many friends during the years they have lived in Lusk.
Funeral services will be held at the Peet Chapel on Thursday afternoon, August 19th at four o'clock and burial will be made in the Lusk cemetery.
