Mary M. Bruch

Rosary services for Mary M. Bruch, 89, were held at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, 1991, in the Bader-Peet Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Patrick Shea officiating. The funeral mass was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday Sept. 24 at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Lusk. Burial followed in the Lusk Cemetery.

Bruch died Friday, Sept. 20, 1991, at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper. She was born March 6, 1902, near Crooked Creek, Mont., the third of five children of Margaret Mary Burke McCarthy and Michael McCarthy, Irish immigrants. The family moved from Montana to Wyoming in 1910. She attended school in Thermopolis and attended St. Mary's Convent in Cheyenne for her junior and senior year of high school. She graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1927 with a degree in Education.

While attending college she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. In 1928 she began teaching the country schools on Owl Creek in Hot Springs County, Wyo. She did this for four years and then taught the seventh and eighth grades in Thermopolis for two years.

She married Carl Bruch on June 22, 1935, in Casper, Wyo. They lived on the family ranch near Node, Wyo. until the time of her death.

She was a member of St. Leo's Altar and Rosary Society and sang in the Church choir. She held several offices in the Tumbleweed Homemakers Club and had served on the Niobrara County School Board.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Dave, Dan and Justin, one sister, Eileen and one daughter, Eileen Bruch Young.

Survivors include her husband, Carl of Node; three sons, Charles, John and Joe all of Lusk area; 10 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She enjoyed reading, handwork, including embroidery and tatting and telling stories to her grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing the piano.

Bader-Peet Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
