CHARLES J. LORENZEN DIES AT FITZSIMMONS HOSPITAL, AFTER VALIANT FIGHT FOR LIFE

Well Known Local Boy succumbs, Following Long Fight Against Diabetes and Operation

Charles J. Lorenzen, 27 years old, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerd Lorenzen of Lusk, passed away at the Fitzsimmons Hospital, near Denver, Colo., last Friday morning, July 12, at 10:00 o'clock in the morning, after a long illness, during which he had made a gallant fight for life.

Funeral services were held in Denver at 10:00 o'clock Monday morning, July 15, interment being made in Denver.

Charles Lorenzen was born in Lusk, and until he graduated from Lusk high school with the class of 1927, spent all his life here. After finishing school, he went to Casper to work, and then went to California, where he was engaged as a nurse in a government hospital at Sautel, near Long Beach, being in the government service about four years.

Several years ago he contacted diabetes, but by careful dieting had kept the disease under control. A few months ago it was necessary for him to undergo a surgical operation for a rupture. Having a knowledge of surgery from his service in the hospital, he requested the attendants to give him gas for an anesthetic instead of ether. However, when he would not relax under the influence of the gas, ether was administered. Within a short while he developed pneumonia, which eventually caused his death. In the hope of saving his life, he was moved from California to the Fitzsimmons Hospital near Denver. He rallied for awhile, but it was apparent that he could not recover. He suffered a relapse a few days ago, from which he did not rally, passing away early Friday morning.

He was married about two years ago, but kept the knowledge a secret until a few months ago. His wife was with him at the time of his death.

Charles J. Lorenzen was born in Lusk, Wyo., April 6, 1908, being 27 years, 3 months and 6 days old at the time of death. Funeral services were held in the rose room of the Quinn & Smith funeral parlors in Denver, at 10:00 o'clock Monday morning, Rev. John B. MacDonald of the Aurora Community Church officiating at a beautiful ceremony, attended by a large number of friends and relatives. Pallbearers were C. E. Mock, R. R. Rhodes, F. W. Straus, D. J. MacDonald and L. C. Connor. A quartet rendered "A Perfect Day" and "In the Garden." Beautiful floral offerings were received by friends and relatives, from Wyoming, Colorado and California, among them being from The Aurora Community Church, Foster Rogers and family, Triple F. Class of the Aurora Church, Mabel and Riley Rhodes, Mr. and Mrs. Percy Lewis, and from many other friends and members of the family.

Among those attending the services from Lusk were Mr. and Mrs. Jerd Lorenzen, parents of the deceased; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lorenzen and baby, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Wiegand, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Deuel and daughter and George Lorenzen.
