Mary Maria Vollmer
Mrs. Franklin Vollmer, Popular Young Lusk Woman, Passes Away at Rawlins
Mrs. Mary Maria Vollmer, 24 years old, wife of Franklin Vollmer, died last Saturday afternoon, at 3:30 o'clock in a hospital at Rawlins, Wyo, after an illness of about a week. Her death came as a shock in a wide circle of friends and relatives in Lusk, who did not know that she was seriously ill.
Funeral services were held from the Baptist Church in Lusk at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, Rev. P. H. Evans officiating. Interment was made in the Lusk Cemetery, arrangements being in charge of the Peet Mortuary.
Pallbearers were James McCune, Gordon Hargraves, Claude Updike, Marvin Jensen, Earl Jensen, Rex Umphenour, Harry Lewis and Jimmie Marshal. Music was rendered by a mixed quartet.
Mrs. Vollmer's death was caused by an anemic condition, followed by pneumonia. A blood transfusion was resorted to in an attempt to save her life, several friends who worked with her husband on the Seminoe dam volunteering blood. Gene Cross, brother of Mrs. C. P. Owen of Lusk, was found to have a most suitable blood count, and was chosen, but the effort was in vain. Mr. Barbour and Dr. Plummer were the attending physicians, and made a heroic attempt to save her life.
