Fern Mildred (Culver) Peterson

Fern Mildred (Culver) Peterson, 88, passed away Dec. 7, 2010, at the Niobrara Health and Life Center in Lusk. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, at the Congregational Church in Lusk, with Pastor Mark Lohr officiating.

She was born in Casper, Wyo., Feb. 26, 1922 to Lafe and Cathryn (Ferrell) Culver, oldest of seven children. She graduated from High School in Rock Springs, Wyo. in 1939. She married Carl Herbert Peterson on July 14, 1940. To this union was born Karla (Randy) Smith, Judi (Dennis) Fogle, Jim (Becki) Peterson, and Denis (Val) Peterson.

Fern was President of the PTA, an avid golfer, member of the Church of Christ, loved animals (especially sheep), and had a good sense of humor.

She worked for many years with the public: at Gambles, The Clothes Horse, Ben Franklin, Coast to Coast, and The Paw Shoppe.

Fern was preceded in death by her parents, husband Carl, sisters Paula and Carmen, brother Denis, and granddaughter Veronica Almazan. She is survived by her brothers Lafe (Anita) Culver of Troutdale, Ore., Aaron (Faye) Culver of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Tom (Claudette) Culver of Torrington, Wyo.; her children; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who she thought the world of.

Memorials in Fern's honor may be made to the Niobrara Senior Center, PO Box 928, Lusk, WY 82225.
