This community was greatly surprised Monday evening by the announcement of the death of W. H. Rouse. He had been a sufferer for the past year or two from acute rheumatic pains and was suffering from an attack of the same at the time of his death and it is thought he took something to alleviate the pain and took an overdose, thereby hastening the end. Mr. Rouse had been a resident of Converse county for several years, residing at Douglas until the Spanish-American war, when he enlisted and went to the Philippines as second lieutenant. After his return he lived for a short time at Hartville, conducting a drug store at that place until three years ago, when he moved the stock to Lusk. He was a member of the Odd Fellows order of Lusk and his remains were laid to rest in the Lusk cemetery this afternoon, services being conducted by that order. Deceased leaves a wife and a son to mourn and the sympathy of the community goes out to them in their hour of trial.
