Gary Thomas Farrington of Hot Springs, SD died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010, in his home. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Oct. 18, 2010 at Mountain View Baptist Church, 12230 Aviation Way, Custer, SD 57730 with Pastor Matt Furse officiating.

Gary was born on Sept. 8, 1946 in Lusk, Wyo. to Earl and Eva Farrington (Pfister) and lived with his family on a ranch near Crawford, Neb. Gary graduated from Lusk High School where he participated in Future Farmers of America. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on April 29, 1965. Gary served as an Electrician's Mate on the U.S.S. Hoel and was honorably discharged on April 28, 1971. Gary earned his master electrician license for the State of Wyoming in 1977. Gary married Christine Voll in 1971 and had two children. He later divorced and helped raise a step-daughter with Pauline Plemmons. Gary married Heidi Basabe on Oct. 7, 2010.

Gary was an active member of Mountain View Baptist Church in Custer, SD where he enjoyed teaching children about Jesus in Anchor Club. He took great pleasure in his family and friends, country gospel music, praying and reading the bible, and giving generously to others.

Gary is survived by his wife, Heidi Farrington; daughter, Angela Shannon and her husband Patrick of Englewood, CO; son, Eric Farrington and his wife Amy of Casper, Wyo.; step-daughter, Bridgette Plemmons and significant other Troy Temple of Dumas, Texas. He is also survived by brothers, Keith Farrington and his wife Jenette of Kaycee, Wyo.; George Farrington and his wife Lorene of Medicine Bow, Wyo.; and also a foster brother, Larry Gerke and his wife Peggy of Wheatland, Wyo. Gary has six grandchildren and many friends.
