Arthur E. Stewart Found Dead in Home Saturday
Arthur Eugene Stewart, 77, who resided on his original homestead approximately 7 miles west of Lance Creek, was found dead in his home at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 31. The date of death has been established as July 29.
The Peet Mortuary in Lusk was in charge of funeral arrangements, and the deceased was taken to Douglas, where graveside services were held in the Park Cemetery there, with Rev. William Henry of the Douglas Methodist Church officiating.
Arthur Eugene Stewart was born November 26, 1876 in Columbus, Nebraska, the son of George and Lois Stewart. On December 18, 1902, he was united in marriage to Leona C. Myers at Petersburg, Neb. and to them six children were born. His wife and two sons, Eugene and George, and one sister, Mrs. Isadora Kerns, Bushnell, Neb., preceded him in death.
Surviving him are his four daughters, Mrs. Eugene Lee of Douglas, Mrs. Ray Wagoner of Douglas, Mrs. Claude Hudson of Kinnear, and Mrs. Harold McCullough of Newcastle; 11 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Mae Saunders of St. Edward, Neb; Mrs. Edith Thornlinson of Omaha, Neb.; and Mrs. Fred Ball of Roslyn, Wash.
