Miss Klopfer Dies Wednesday

Just as The Herald is going to press this (Wednesday) afternoon word has been received of the death of Miss Bertha Klopfer of Node. She passed away at the home of her brother-in-law, Gottfried Germann of Lusk, where she had been for the past twelve days, receiving medical attention.

Miss Klopfer came to Wyoming with other members of her family about 30 years ago and settled in the Node community, where she has since resided.
Funeral arrangements are still indefinite, but burial will be made in the Node cemetery.

Services Held for Miss Klopfer Friday

The final rites for Miss Bertha Klopfer were conducted from the Peet Chapel on Friday afternoon, Nov. 14, at 2:00 o'clock.

The Rev. Noah Schrock, pastor of the Christian Apostolic Faith of Burlington, Iowa, officiated at the service.

The musical selections, "The Old Rugged Cross," "Nearer My God to Thee," and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus," were sung by Mrs. Edna DeCastro, Mrs. C. E. Marvin, Mrs. Anita Culver, Rex Yocum and Stanley Kuns, with Mrs. J. P. Watson as organist.

Burial services were conducted at the Node Cemetery at 3:30 o'clock, where interment was made in the family plot. The casket bearers were William Speerly, Otis Bump, Clarence Sides, Ray Walter, Charles Lund, Sr., and Herbert Sabin.

Miss Klopfer was born March 17, 1877, at Echichens, Vaud, Switzerland, the daughter of John and Marie Germann Klopfer. At the age of 16 she came to the United States and made her home at Fairbury, Ill., where she was engaged as a clerk in the store. In 1917 she came to Wyoming and took up a homestead in the Node community, near the land already settled on by her brother and sister, Gottfied and Aline Klopfer, and has since resided in the community.
Because of ill health she moved into Lusk a couple of weeks prior to her death, and was staying at the home of her brother-in-law, Gottfried Germann, where death claimed her, Wednesday forenoon, Nov. 12th.

Two of her sisters, Mrs. Marie Cartier of Switzerland and Mrs. G. Germann of Lusk, both died on the same day, Feb. 2, 1947.

Surviving her are her sister and brother, Aline and Gottfried Klopfer of Node, and a brother, Henry Klopfer of California. Mrs. Margaret Fietz of Lusk is a niece and she also has several nieces and nephews in Switzerland.
