Kathryn Debora Vaughn

Obituary

Kathryn Debora Vaughn was born July 3, 1880 near Napello, Iowa and fell asleep Dec. 9, 1942 at the Porter Sanitarium, Denver, Colorado.

Her childhood was spent in southeastern Iowa. At the age of fifteen she joined the Seventh-day Adventist church and remained a faithful member until her passing.

While a young woman, she entered the Iowa Sanitarium at Des Moines, Iowa to take nursing training, finishing with the first class to leave this institution. After doing private duty several years she purchased treatment rooms in Sioux City. She operated these rooms for about ten years. She then came to Wyoming to homestead. After proving up she continued to make her home near Van Tassell.

Early this summer she taught a Red Cross Home Nursing Class in her old home community of Prairie Center. This fall she taught another class in Lusk. She had been nursing in the Lusk Hospital for the past year and a half.

She was always a person of generous nature giving of her time and nursing talent wherever she was called. She was a loving sister and aunt giving to all generously.

She suffered a cerebral hemorrhage two weeks before her death from which she failed to rally.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Ross Smith, Castana, Iowa, three brothers, Wm. G. Vaughn of Lusk, C. M. Vaughn of Des Moines, Iowa and Walker Vaughn of Campbell, Calif, also four nieces and two nephews.

Services were conducted from the Peet Mortuary at Lusk, Elder e. H. Oswald of Casper officiating. Burial was in the family plot at Van Tassell.
