Mother of Alman Davis Dies While Visiting at Home of Son
Mrs. Mary Skelton, who arrived in Lusk a couple of weeks ago to spend the winter at the home of her son, Alman Davis and family, passed away Tuesday afternoon, December 7th after a week's illness from gall bladder infection and infirmities of age.
Funeral services were held from the Peet Mortuary at one o'clock Wednesday afternoon with Rev. Evans, pastor of the Baptist church officiating. "Will There Be Any Stars in My Crown" and "Nearer, My God, to Thee," were sung by Mrs. Abdon DeCastro and Mrs. Cobb, with Mrs. Marvin accompanying.
The remains were taken to Broken Bow, Nebraska for burial and services will be held there on Sunday.
MARY JANE SKELTON
Mary Jane Skelton was born at Princeton, Ind., March 24, 1856 and passed away at the home of her son, Alman Davis of Lusk at 4:15 Tuesday afternoon December 7th at the age of 81 years, 8 months, 13 days.
In childhood Mrs. Skelton suffered the loss of an eye and for the past 14 years had been totally blind. Although so afflicted she was a patient sufferer and a great lover of children and much loved by her many friends.
For the past seven years she has been spending the winters at the home of her son her and this year had arrived only two weeks ago.
She is survived by three sons, Alman Davis of Lusk, Ralph Skelton of Douglas and Wm. Skelton of Broken Bow, Nebr., a sister, Mrs. Ellen Heaps also of Broken Bow and a brother, John Wheeler of Billins, Oklahoma, eleven grandchildren and 10 treat grandchildren.
Among the Alman Davis children of Lusk who survive thir grandmother are Mrs. Joe Curry, Mrs. Rubeal Campton and Joe Davisa, and two other grand-daughters of this family are, Mrs. Carl Weisel of Middale, Idaho and Mrs. Tom Patterson of Chillicoth, Calif.
In Douglas the following grandchildren survive, Mrs. Ruby Brow, Mrs. Earl Ganno, Mrs. Esther Anderson and Miss Bernice Uhlm.
The week old baby girl of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Davis of Lusk is a great grand-daughter.
