Harvey Leroy Poage, 88, died June 19, 2010 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Cremation has taken place. Memorial funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 25 at the Our Savior Lutheran Church with Pastor Marvin Temme officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Torrington.

Harvey was born June 19, 1922 in Torrington the son of True W. and Vera Grace (Woolever) Poage. He attended school in Torrington and then farmed and ranched with his father and brothers. Harvey married Caroline Rose Knudsen on May 9, 1942 and shortly after they moved to Denver where Harvey completed welding school. The couple then moved back to Torrington and Harvey was drafted into the Navy. After getting out of the Navy, Harvey worked as a foreman at the Guernsey rock quarry. In 1952, the couple bought a ranch in Keeline/Lost Springs, Wyoming where they farmed wheat and ranched until Harvey retired in 1975. After selling the ranch, Harvey and Caroline moved back to Torrington where he worked for the Cottier brothers for many years. Harvey also enjoyed various carpentry and construction projects.

His hobbies included work, as well as, outdoor activities such as boating, fishing, and horseback riding and hunting. Harvey volunteered for many years as a guide for the 2-shot goose hunt in Torrington and guided many celebrities on antelope hunts on the family ranch.

Survivors include his wife Caroline of Wheatland; daughter Janice and Dewey Baars of Wheatland; son Vernon and Theresa Poage of Cheyenne; and brother Glen and Kathleen Poage of Greeley, Colorado; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, brother David, and daughter Anita Jassman.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
