Bertha Thompson died early Sunday morning and was buried on Tuesday. She had been a sufferer for a long time and death was a blessed relief. All that kind, loving hearts could do was done for her to make her comfortable as possible. The bereaved family desire to extend their heartfelt thanks to those assisting them in their hour of trouble.

February 2, 1905
Bertha Thompson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Thompson, was born April 21, 1883, in Boone county, Iowa. In June, 1887, she came with her parents to Wyoming, where she has lived ever since. For the past two years she has been a sufferer of consumption, and all that could be done was done for her relief, but she fell asleep in Jesus January 22, 1905. She leaves a father, mother, five brothers and three sisters to mourn her loss. Death had no terrors for her; she was so willing and anxious to go. Funeral services were held at the hall, conducted by Rev. York. The large crowd testified to the love and respect in which the people held her. Her remains were laid to rest in the Pleasant Ridge cemetery.

Yet though in my human blindness
I cannot fathom His way
Who counts in His glorious cycles
A thousand years as a day.

Whenever the cloud is lifted,
Whenever I cross the tide,
Mine own He will surely give me,
And I shall be satisfied.

Poem written on the death of Miss Bertha Thompson by Mrs. P. N. Summers.

Dear Bertha has gone from the ones who prized her.
She has left a home of love;
She has gone to the heavenly mansion,
The angels have called her above.

No more at home will they greet her,
When morning's bright sunshine has come;
Her songs on earth have ended,
Her heavenly now have begun.

Her bright countenance is missed in hours,
Which weeping alone can tell;
She has joined the heavenly bowers
Where never is whispered a farewell.

When springtime comes they'll plant flowers
Over the silent new-made tomb,
She is at rest in the evergreen bowers
Which in beauty forever shall bloom.

She has gone and they linger sorrow,
But the cloud's silvery lining is light;
For our Saviour has said on the morrow
All shall enter whose raiments are white.
