Ann M. Christensen

Services for pioneer schoolteacher and ranch woman Ann M. (Trapp) Christensen, 87, were held recently at Peet Mortuary in Lusk. She died August 3, 1988 at the Weston County Manor in Newcastle.

Mrs. Christensen was born November 13, 1900 in Bolton, MI. She attended Alpena High School and received her teacher's certificate at Michigan State College.

She moved to Wyoming in 1923 to teach school at Central School, a one-room school in northern Niobrara County.

On June 2, 1924, she married Chris Christensen. They build a ranch near Cheyenne River, where she lived until 1986. She taught at the Seven Mile School for several years, attended Trinity University in San Antonio, TX and received a B. A. degree in college education from the University of Wyoming in 1968.

Mrs. Christensen was a member of Kappa Delta Pi, national education honorary, Republican Woman, Wyoming Woolgrowers, Wyoming Cowbells, and the Does Drove of Lusk.

She was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by two sons, Fred Christensen of Casper, and Russell Christensen of the family ranch; one daughter, Jean Freeman of Casper; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elsie Balck of Alpena, MI and Martha Blemke of Posen, MI and several nieces and nephews.
