Margaret Childs, 83, Dies Monday
Mrs. Margaret Childs, 83, and resident of this area since the turn of the century, died at 12:30 Monday morning at Niobrara Memorial Hospital in Lusk. She had been ill for some years.
Funeral services were held from the Methodist Church in Harrison, of which she was a member, Wednesday afternoon at 2:00, with the Rev. Victor Ireland officiating. Interment was in the Harrison Cemetery.
She was born December 10, 1877, at Scotland, So. Dak., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Brown, and one of a family of nine children. She was reared and finished school there. She also taught school in that area before the family moved to Sioux County about 1900. She married Frank Dryer soon after coming to the county. He died in 1927, and in 1929, she was married to Mert Childs at Harrison. Most of her life in Sioux County was spent on a ranch until moving to Harrison shortly before the death of Mr. Childs in 1950. She had no children.
Surviving are three sisters--Mrs. Hugo Payne of Costa Mesa, Cal.; Mrs. George Johnson, Orchard, Neb., and Mrs. Harry Vickory of Lusk. Three of the deceased children who lived for some time in Sioux County were James and George Brown and Mrs. Clarence Zimmerman.
