"Myrt" Childs Of Harrison Passes

L.M. "Myrt" Childs, 70, rancher of the Harrison vicinity for some 40 years and widely known throughout this area, died suddenly Sunday afternoon at 4:30 at his home in Harrison.

He was stricken some three months ago with a heart ailment, but had been up and around and somewhat active again.

Funeral services were held at the Harrison Methodist church Tuesday afternoon with Rev. Milton O'Connor in charge, and burial was in Harrison. Attending the services from here were Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Payne, Mr. and Mrs. James Tenney, Mr. and Mrs. Don Glover, and Mrs. Harry Vickory of Glenrock. Mrs. Childs is a sister of Mrs. Payne and Mrs. Harry Vickory.

Mr. Childs was born in Kansas, moved as a boy to Bassett, Neb., and soon after the turn of the century homesteaded northeast of Harrison. His first wife, Marie Ages, died in 1925. In 1928 he married Mrs. Margaret Dryer and until five years ago they continued to live on the ranch. Since then they have retired and moved to Harrison.

Mr. Child's mother, who was 100 years old last Apriil 15, still resides at Bassett. Two sisters at Bassett and a brother in California and another in Florda are also living.

L.M. Childs Dies
L. M. Childs, old-time resident of Sioux County, died Sunday, January 29, of a heart attack. He was 70 years of age and lived on a ranch until 1946, when he retired to his home in Harrison. He leaves his wife, his aged mother, Mrs. Jane Childs of Bassett, who is over 100 years of age, and two sisters and two brothers.
