C.M. Vaughn Dies in Lusk Saturday
C. Merrick Vaughn, 81, of Lusk, died Saturday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Raymond Morris from the complications of old age. Funeral services were held Monday at 2:00 p.m. from the Peet Chapel with Rev. William Iverson of Newcastle officiating.
Mrs. Carl Peterson and Mrs. Emerson Bonner sang "Asleep in Jesus" and "Beautiful Isle." Mrs. J. P. Watson was organist.
Pallbearers were Martin Glandt, Venus Kilmer, Barney McBirney, Walter Schnorenberg, Sr., Stanley Johnson and James Roberts.
Charles Merrick Vaughn was born March 2, 1878 in Louisa County, Ia, the son of Jesse V. and Margaretta Vaughn. He and Ethel Crow were married February 5, 1902. They had four children.
He made their home in Des Moines, Ia., for approximately 50 years where he worked as a mason and carpenter. He spent several years working with his brother, William in Van Tassell and Harrison in 1927 and 1930 building houses and barns. He has made his home with his daughter for the past year.
Surivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ida Wall of Los Angeles and Mrs. Raymond Morris of Lusk; a sister Mrs. Delta Smith, Lincoln, Nebr.; a brother, Walker E. Vaughn, Los Gatos, Calif.; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Mrs. Vaughn died in 1950, a son and duaghter also previously died.
