Robert Marsh Dies In Lusk Friday
Robert Marsh, 79, a longtime resident of Lusk, died Friday at the Spencer Hospital following a lingering illness. Note: Friday was the 12th of April in 1957. However, this database is using the death date from the Lusk Cemetery records, which is April 13th.
Mr. Marsh was, for many years, active in promoting baseball and was manager of the Lusk Merchants baseball team.
Funeral services were held Monday at 2:00 p.m. from Peet Chapel with Rev. Otha B. Holcomb, officiating. Burial was made in the Lusk Cemetery.
Mrs. Otha Holcomb sang "Abide With Me" and Mrs. Holcomb and Mrs. Emerson Bonner sang "The Old Rugged Cross." Mrs. A. F. DeCastro was organist.
Casket bearers were John England, Charles Hitshew, Mike Cordell, Dave McCullough, Charles Vaughn and Eddy Parmely.
Robert Marsh was born in Illinois on February 7, 1878. He worked as a railroad engineer on the Northwestern out of Sioux CIty, Iowa before coming to Wyoming in 1918. He homesteaded north of Lusk where he lived a number of years.
Survivors include two grandsons, Micheal and Richard Marsh of Denver. His parents, four brothers, his only son and wife previously died. His son, Richard, was a manager of The Lusk Herald many years ago.
