Lee C. Hales Dies at Casper

Lee C. Hales, 77, a former resident of Niobrara County for 36 years, died early last Thursday morning at his home in Casper following a brief illness. Funeral services were held from the Peet Mortuary in Lusk, Saturday afternoon, and burial was in the Lusk cemetery.

Rev. Fred Bolinger of the First Baptist Church of Lusk officiated. Mrs. J. P. Watson, organist, accompanied Mrs. A. F. DeCastro and Mrs. Carl Porter as they sang "Somewhere We Will Understand" and the "Old Rugged Cross."

Casket bearers were: Vernon Chard, Arloph Chard, Harry Sides, Milton Mimes, Harold Rogers and Noal Larson. Honorary bearers were: Ray Baughn, Ray Larson, Barry Boner, Ed Plum, Sam Thomas, Rulo Roberts, Orval Dryer and Albert DeGering.

He was born Oct. 16, 1890, in Crawford, Neb., where he was reared and went to school. He was married Dec. 22, 1915, in Crawford. He and His wife (Jennie May Hales) moved to the Woodman Community near Lusk in 1916 where they homesteaded until 1952 when he retired and moved to Casper. He was a member of the Oddfellows Lodge of Lusk.

Mr. Hales is survived by his widow, Jennie, at the family home at 1203 West 22nd; four sons, Wayne of Casper; Edward E. and William S., both of Lusk; Warren L. of Lander; and a daughter Dorothy J. of Evanston.
