Mary E. Fisher

Mary E. Fisher, age 75, died Saturday, July 30, 1994, at Southern Hills General Hospital in Hot Springs.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 2, at McColley's Chapel in Hot Springs with Rev. Gary Warren officiating. Visitation was held on Monday at the Chapel from 2-6 p.m. Burial followed Tuesday's service at the Harrison Cemetery, in Harrison, Neb., at 2:30 p.m.

Mary was born August 19, 1918, in Harrison, Neb., to James H. and Orpha Boyles Christian. She was raised and educated in Harrison graduating from Sioux County High School in 1935. She attended two years of college at Chadron State, then taught elementary country school for three years in Sioux County, Neb.

She married Bill Fisher on April 15, 1939, in Gring, Neb. In 1942, she and her husband moved to Hot Springs and have resided here since that time. They owned and operated Fisher Motor Company, where she served as bookkeeper until 1954. From 1955-1965, she was emplyed by the Small Business Administration as a score counselor, and continued to help her husband in that same field for an additional five years.

She also was bookkeeper for their wholesale auto supply sotre until 1963 and had worked as bookkeeper for what was then known as Ditts Drug Store. She and her husband retired in 1970 and have been traveling the United States.

Her memberships include the Hot Springs Senior Citizens Center and the Rebekah Lodge.

She was preceded in death by one sister, twin brothers in infance, her parents and two special nephews.

Grateful for having had the privilege of sharing her life are her husband Bill Fisher, Hot Springs, S.D., sister Juanita Phipps, Lusk, Wyo., numerpis nioeces and nephews and a host of friends.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the Hot Springs Senior Ciizens Center.
