Stan Brewster Dies in Neb.
Stan Brewster, long-time northern Niobrara County rancher, died May 3 at his North Platte home from a massive coronary.
Funeral was May 8 at Vande Bossche Funeral Home in Edgemont, S. D., with the Rev. Wayne Markham officiating. Burial was in the Edgemont Cemetery. Pallbearers were his sons, Philip of Lusk; Sanford Jr. and James of Denver and Marvin of Lincoln, Mont.; and close friends James and Jim Meng of the Red Bird community.
Survivors include his wife LaBrie of North Platte; brother John B. of Ten Sleep; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Brewster was born April 8, 1906, at Edgemont. He graduated from Edgemont High School and attended South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and Colorado School of Mines.
Brewster acted in early motion pictures in Hollywood, CA, before returning to ranch near Lusk, Wyo., in 1930. In 1974 he moved to North Platte. He contributed articles to newspapers in Wyoming, South Dakota and Nebraska. He published a book, ""American Indian: Captive Citizen," in October 1977.
