Funeral services for James Oscar Middleton, age 79, were held Tuesday, February 25, 1986 at 2:00 P.M. at the Converse Funeral Chapel with Reverend Robert Nuhn of the Congregational United Church of Christ officiating. Interment was in the Douglas Park Cemetery.

Mr. Middleton died Friday, February 21, 1986 at the Memorial Hospital of Natrona County in Casper following a brief illness.

James Oscar Middleton was born October 31, 1906 at Helena, Arkansas the son of Benjamin Elgin and Juan Jolena (Smith) Middleton. At the age of four his family moved to Wyoming, taking a homestead in Niobrara County. He was reared on the homestead and received his education from country school and also attended school in Lusk. On February 18, 1929, he married Marie E. Daniels in Lusk. The couple lived on their own homestead for two years, then moved to his wife's parent's ranch which lies in Converse and Niobrara Counties. Mr. Middleton served on the Soil Conservation board for several years.

Mr. Middleton is survived by his wife of Douglas; four sons, James Ray "Bud" and Benny R. Middleton both of Douglas; Joe M. Middleton of Newell, S. D., and Richard Andrew Middleton of Colorado Springs, Co.; two daughters, Ethel Hoskovec of Golden, Co. and Rita Russell of Douglas; three sisters, Hettie St. John of Casper, Thelma Thomas of Ft. Laramie, and Winnie Toulou of Ione, Wash.; nineteen grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Mr. Middleton was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Frank Middleton; one sister, Ethel Middleton; and one grandson, Kenny Russell.

Serving as pallbearers were Dave Thompson, Max Miller, Otto Bryson, Wayne Reihle, Jack Moore, and Melvin Davies.

Memorials to the Converse County Heart Fund or the Shriner's Crippled Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City would be equally appreciated by the family.

The Converse Funeral Chapel of Douglas was in charge of the arrangements.
