W. A. Ellis Dies Monday, Funeral Services Today

William A. Ellis, 64, rancher and resident of Niobrara county for many years, passed away early Monday morning at his home in Lusk. Death was caused from cerebral hemorhage; he had been in poor health for several years.

Mr. Ellis came to this vicinity in 1910, and located on a homestead out in the Divide community, where he farmed and ranched for many years. Some time later he moved his family into Lusk, and was employed at the roundhouse outside of town by the C. & N. W. Railroad up until his health began to fail. He is survived by his wife, Etta Ellis, and a sister, Mrs. Ida Glassford, of College Place, Wash. and many relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted this (Thursday) afternoon at 2:30 at the Peet Mortuary Chapel, under the direction of Rev. H. P. Evans. Pall bearers will be Ed Stigile, A. S. Barker, John Mudra, Bill Millburn, Jack Gartrell, and Harry Hargraves. Burial will be at the Lusk Cemetery. A complete obituary will be found in the next issue of the Herald.

OBITUARY

William A. Ellis was born in Missouri June 3, 1872. While yet a boy he went with his father and mother to Custer County, Nebr., and located on a homestead. While a young man he professed faith in Christ and united with the Baptist church. February 4, 1903 he was united in marriage to Etta Fraser and in 1909 homesteaded in Wyoming northeast of Lusk. In 1920 he moved to Lusk and worked in the round house until the work there closed down. Then he got employment as a section hand on the railroad. Most of his life has been spent in farming, thrashing and carpenter work.

In 1913 he suffered a light stroke, again in 1936 another stroke and again in '38 and again in '39 on the night of May 12th, from which he did not recover. Died 1:45 Monday morning May 15th. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife; two sisters, Mrs. (Merda) Norcross in Milwaukee, Wis., and Mrs. Ida Glassford of Walla Walla, Wash, nephews and nieces and many friends.
