Allen Jordan Dies on Saturday
Allen Jordan, Sioux County Commissioner, died Saturday morning at 2:00 at the Chadron Hospital of heart failure following an extended illness that has had him in and out of hospitals for many weeks.
Funeral service was held at the Church of the Nativity in Harrison Tuesday morning at 10:30 with Father Thomas J. Dillon of St. Patrick's Church in Chadron officiating.

Last Rites Held For Allen Jordan, Native of County
The rosary for Allen Jordan was recited by Father Thomas Dillion at 7:30 p.m. at John the Baptist Church at Crawford.
The funeral mass was held at the church of the Nativity in Harrison at 10:30 September 17. Father Dillion officiated at the mass and was assisted by Father John Dennett who also gave the sermon.
Altar boys were grandson Jim and Pat Jordan. Casket bearers were grandsons Alan DeHaven, Dan and Steve Jordan and Bruce, John and Gary Phipps.
Honorary Pallbearers were Raymond Strey, Elmer Pullen, Joe Morrison, W. E. Mumby, Alvin Publow, Dale DeHaven, Charlie Umphenour, Jim Stewart, Tom Broderick, Don Gregg, Joe Nunn, LaVerne Hanley, Ed Ostermeyer, Gary Thayer, and Charles Oldaker.
The music was provided by Mrs. Vernon Schaefer and Mrs. Bob Shockley accompanied by Mrs. Louise Serres.
Allen, son of Dan and Barbara Jordan was born on September 6, 1905, in Sioux County and spent his entire life here. He died at the Chadron Hospital on September 14 at the age of 69.
He married Mary Doyle on November 11, 1926. He served as county commissioner for 20 years, and he was a director on the Niobrara Electric Association board for 20 years.
Survivors include his wife Mary, son Bob of Harrison and two daughters Mrs. Rodney Phipps of Glenrock, Wyo., and Mrs. Richard DeHaven of Chadron.
He is also survived by four sisters, Blanch Jordan of Denver, Mrs. Merrill Quintard of Harrison, Mrs. George Clarke and Mrs. Pete Meier of Lusk; 14 grandchildren, Bruce, Joe, John and Gary Phipps, Chritine, Cheri, Janet and Allen DeHaven, Dan, Steve, Jayne, Jim, Pat and Carol Jordan and two great grandchildren, Julie Phipps and Neil Jordan.
