Edward Schaefer Dies in California
Edward J. Schaefer, 46, a brother of Mrs. Joseph Pfister of Node, died near Jackson, Calif., May 13 and was buried at that place May 17.
He was born at the family ranch on Indian Creek July 11, 1906, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Schaefer. He attended the Sioux County high school at Harrison and later a trade school at Kansas City, Mo.
In 1925 Mr. Schaefer was employed in the oil fields at Midwest and later moved to Arizona where he worked in gold mining, following that trade in California until going into the fruit raising business.
He was married in 1938 to Jennie Hersting of Los Angeles and they are the parents of a daughter, Eleanor, 11.
Survivors beside his wife and daughter are his mother, and five brothers, Leon, George, William and Charles of Harrison and Lawrence of Pioneer, Calif., and one sister, Mrs. Joseph Pfister of Node.
