H. C. Black of Warren Dies Tuesday
Hugh C. Black, rancher and old-time resident of near Warren, passed away at his home Tuesday morning after an illness lasting several months. Funeral services will be held in Lusk on Wednesday afternoon, the internment in the Lusk cemetery with the local Masonic lodge in charge of the services.
Mr. Black has been in bad health for some time. He spent several months at the Lusk hospital last winter, and for a time he was thought to be well on the road to recovery. After returning to his ranch home he has been steadily growing worse until the end came Tuesday mroning. He leaves a wife and a large family of children.

Obituary
Hugh Cunningham Black was born at Dorseyville, Pa., February 2, 1868. His father died when Hugh was but 14 years old, and as a young man Mr. Black went to Washington, Iowa and then later on to California, where he spent two and a half years. Returning to Colorado, he settled in Washinton County, where he became clerk of Washington county, from 1904 to 1910.
As a youth, the deceased united with the Presbyterian Church and remained faithful to that church until death. During his protracted illness he asserted that he was prepared to die and was looking forward to reunion with his Lord.
On September 2, 1905, he was united in marriage to Miss Julia L. Baxter of Holbrook, Nebraska. They were married in Denver, the ceremony being performed by a classmate of Mr. Black's uncle. For thirteen years the family resided at Akron, Colo., and then moved to Warren, Wyo., where they have since resided. Eleven children were born to this union, all of whom survive their father. They are: Hugh C. Black, Jr., of Warren; Robert S. Black of Denver, Colo.; Lucile Moran of Roxon, Wyo.; Mrs. Elizabeth Kelsey of Warren. Three daughters, Geneve, Gladys and Julia, four boys, James, LeRoy, Charles and Arthur, who are at home with their mother. There is another daughter by a former marriage. Mrs. Mary Wood, of Sacramento, Cal.
Mr. Black's mother died three years ago a the ripe old age of 91 years. Besides the wife and children, there are three brothers - Oliver Black of Birdville, Pa., John Black of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Samuel Black of Tulsa, Okla. And two sisters, Mrs. Mary B. Minter of Warren, Wyo, and Mrs. Martha Cole of Butler, Pa.
Mr. Black was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 74 of Akron, Colorado, and after death his brother Masons honored him with their ritual service at his grave.
December 18, 1929, Mr. Black was taken seriously ill and spent several weeks in the hospital here at Lusk. He returned home in the late spring, but never recovered his health. He seemed to gradually lose ground, and passed away on Tuesday morning, July 29, at 9:40 o'clock, at the age of 61 years, 5 days (months) and 28 months (days).
