Funeral Services Held Aug. 12 for Ada Thompson
Note: The Lusk Cemetery records indicate death date was August 12, 1953. If the funeral was on Sunday, that would have been August 16, not the 12th as the obituary headline states.
Funeral services were conducted in the Peet Chapel of Lusk Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. for Mrs. Ada Thompson, former Lance Creek resident, who died in Barstow, Calif. Aug. 12 at 5:10 p.m. at the age of 88 years.
The Rev. Grace Flint, pastor of the Open Bible Standard Church of this city, officiated at the services. Mrs. A. F. DeCastro and Mrs. Emerson Bonner sang, "Nearer My God to Thee," and "Rock of Ages," with Rex Yocum presiding at the chapel organ.
Interment was made in the Lusk Cemetery with the following casketbearers: Walter Swope, Robert Black, Oliver Butler, Matt Bast, William Kruse and J. P. Costlow.
Ada Meyers was born in Eldora, Hardin County, Ia. Apr. 22, 1865, the daughter of William and Maryetta Clark Meyers. She was married to John E. Thompson Nov. 27, 1887 at Eldora. Mrs. Thompson held membership in the Rebekah Lodge of that city.
Her husband preceded her in death in January, 1929. She is survived by two sons, Lloyd of Dayton. Ia., and Fred of Lake City, Ia.; one daughter, Mrs. Hattie Brenner of Barstow, Calif.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Out-of-town relatives attending the services in this city were: Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Thompson and daughter of Dayton, Ia., Mr. and Mrs. Fred Thompson of Lake City, Ia., Mrs. Hattie Brenner of Barstow, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Brenner of Casper.
