Obituary - Taft Sherman Pearce
Taft Sherman Pearce was born at Alexandria, South Dakota, June 21, 1908, and as a lad of five came with his parents to Lusk, Wyoming, April 1, 1913, where he has since resided and grew to manhood's estate.
Taft, or "Ted," as he was familiarly known, took sick with the flu, January 28th, and soon thereafter double pneumonia set in, and he was taken to the Lusk Hotel and placed under the constant care of Miss Ruth Houchin, a trained nurse, who did all that could have been done for him.
Apparently he was getting along nicely and was able to be out and around town for nearly two weeks. But he was very weak. Saturday he was out car-riding all afternoon. Sunday he seemed not quite so well. On Monday morning he was very weak. His heart bothered a great deal. He called for his brother Athel and had the nurse call the doctor. He seemed to have a premonition that he was to go. During the month he had manifested a change of heart and was much in prayer.
He passed away to be with his mother, who preceded him by less than two months.
There remain to mourn his departure, his father, P. H. Pearce; two brothers, Athel and Ray; four sisters, Mrs. Roy Pennington, Mrs. Ethel Sorenson, Letha Pearce and Marie Pearce, all of Lusk. Also a little niece, Leona Jean Pennington, of whom he was especially fond.
The length of his earthly pilgrimage was 20 years, 8 months and 20 days.
