Obituary
Annie Gertrude Ingram was born at Clearwater, Nebr., November 18, 1886 and was married to Charley Allen, July 4, 1906. They lived at Royal, Nebr. for the first three years and in the spring of 1909, Mr. Allen filed on a homestead near Lusk, Wyo. In the fall they took up their residence on this homestead which was seven miles south of Lusk.
She was one of those kind of women who cheerfully endured all the hardships and privations of a homestead life and she was aLways ready to help others in sickness and trouble. She was greatly missed by the community when in the spring of 1919, they moved to Lusk, where Mr. Allen was engaged in carpenter work, living there until the time of her death, April 1, 1922, which came after an illness of short duration, her passing away, being a terrible shock to her relatives and friends.
It has always been said that the highest tribute which can be paid to a woman is to be able to say of her that she was a good mother and as such, Annie Allen was a queeen among women.
She leaves to mourn her loss, a loving husband, four sons, namely, Gerald, Veryl, Orville and Burton, one daughter, Myrtle Agnes, an infant, whom she cherished so fondly.
She also leaves her mother, Mrs. Alice Ingram, three brothers and four sisters, namely, Robert J., of Bonesteel, S. D., J. Q. Ingram of Neligh, Nebr., William A. Ingram of Chambers, Nebr.; Mesdames Pharo Eckoff and Ethel Allen of Orchard, Nebr., Mary Couch of Whitney, Nebr. and Nellie Lewman of Verdigre, Neb. besides a host of friends.
A short service was conducted at her home in Lusk Sunday at 3 p.m. by Rev. H. W. Johnson. The choir of the Community church rendered two beautiful songs: "God Will Take Care of You," and "I'm Going Home." A large circle of friends were present to pay their last tribute of respect. The remains were shipped to Clearwater, Nebr., where burial took place on Tuesday, April 4.
The following friends and neighbors contributed to a lovely wreath of flowers: L. R. Van Tassell, Leo Wood, C. E. Seace, Lloyd Rice, Roy McLain, Floyd McLain, H. E. Barnes, Mrs. Mary Carrol, Hal Jorgensen, C. E. Robertson, A. L. Sparks, W. S. Blackmore, Fred Snee, W. M. Intveen, Earl Milburn, Merlin Barnes, W. J. Noble, Oscar Pearson, W. H. Fjorback, A. V. Spjet, Ernest Milburn, W. M. Tibbets, Kaan Brothers, R. E. Marshall, J. F. Schley, James O'Brien, Roy Quigley, Ed Jones and E. O. Kint.
We loved her, yes, we loved her,
But the angels loved her more,
And they have sweetly called her
To yonder shining shore.
The golden gates were opened,
A gentle voice said "Come!"
And with farewells unspoken,
She calmly entered home.
