Woodson Graham
Woodson Graham, Niobrara resident since 1929, died in the nursing home here Friday. He was head of the USDA Agriculture Service Center here from 1949 to 1960 when he retired.
Woodson Graham was born at Hill City, Kan., on August 6, 1888. He attended school at Gibbon, Neb., and the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. He homesteaded at Tyron, Neb. in 1914 and was married to Lola Smith on May 3, 1916.
Grahams moved to Wyoming in 1929 where they ranched 35 miles north of Lusk until 1949. He then moved to Lusk where he was employed at the ASC office. Mrs. Graham died after they moved to Lusk.
Following his retirement in 1960 he served as police judge for several years. On December 30, 1972, he and Elvie Wilson were married at Lusk.
Memorial service was conducted at Peet Mortuary Chapel Tuesday with The Rev. Frank Blish officiating. Delbert and Dorthy Dick sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art." Mrs. Dick was organist.
Interment was in the Lusk Cemetery. Casket bearers were Everett Kilmer, Jack Pfister, Richart Pfister, James Meng, H.E. Hansen and Henry Wasserburger Jr.
Memorials have been established to the Niobrara County Nursing Home.
Mr. Graham was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lola and a daughter Doris Kane and one sister. He is surivived by his wife Elvie of Lusk; a son Horace of Lusk; two daughters, Audrey Howes of Casper and Crystal Johnston of Houston, Tex., one adopted son Ralph Smith of Chula Vista, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
