Mrs. Melissa Dull Dies Thanksgiving Day at Age of 96

Mrs. Melissa Dull, 96, and a resident of Lusk for the past 33 years, died suddenly at her home Thanksgiving forenoon. Despite the fact that Mrs. Dull suffered a broken hip several years ago which left her partially crippled, she was still active about her household tasks and very alert mentally.

Funeral services were conducted from the Peet Chapel Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock with Rev. Jacob Nein, pastor of the Congregational Church, officiating.

The songs, "Rock of Ages" and "The Lord Is My Shepherd" were sung by a mixed quartet composed of Mrs. H. J Templeton, Mrs. A.F. DeCastro, Rex Yocum and Donald Keys, Jr., Mrs. J. P. Watson presiding at the organ.

Interment was made in the Lusk Cemetery with G. D. Meade, Ed Greene, Percy Beagle, Harry Fernau, Sr., Andrew Christian and Eddie Plum as casketbearers.

Mrs. Dull was born Aug. 20, 1856 at Rockford, Ohio, the daughter of Branson and Rebecca Roebuck. She grew to young womanhood and attended school in that vicinity. In 1876 she was married to Delbert Dull and they became the parents of two sons and three daughters. Mrs. Dull's husband died in 1898 and their son Floyd died at Berkeley, Calif., in 1940. Two daughters also preceded their mother in death, Mrs. C. N. Rogers who died at Berkeley, Calif. in 1948 and Mrs. Harry McCluskey of Manville, in 1951.

In 1907 Mrs. Dull and her children moved from Ohio to Idaho, where they resided until 1919 at which time they came to the vicinity of Lusk where she has since resided, making her home continuously with her son Branson "Jerry."

Besides her son, surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Maude Jackson of San Diego, Calif., who came to Lusk upon receiving word of the death of her mother. Four grand-children, eight great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren also survive.
